A not so impressive Art of Seduction

I recently watched the korean movie "The Art of Seduction" starring Son Ye Jin and Song Il Guk after reading my bro's blog. Agree with his comment that this is a pretty hilarious but also a spastic movie. Nonetheless, this is the first time that I actually watched Son Ye Jin acting without a single tear drop the whole movie. In her previous movies, her typical roles are those extremely delicate, demure, weak , etc. kind which would imply alot of crying scenes. I would recommend her other movie "The Classic", which is as good as "Love Letters" and "Il Mare".

Side note, there are a few instances in this movie that I found Song Il Guk actually resembles Andy Lau! A cool and cute actor no doubt.

A pot of red bean soup

What you need is just a packet of red beans (~90cents) + some honey/sugar + some lotus seed + tangarine peel and you get a whole pot of soup. This kind of dessert/soup is very popular among the cantonese people. It is generally called "sugar water" in cantonese and is usually served after meal. It is better to soak the beans in water overnight to soften them . Otherwise, it takes longer for the beans to be cooked. Try it and you will know how easy but yet delicious it is!

ps: enjoying a bowl of red bean soup right now :)

Korean Dramas Marathon Part 2

Finally I finished watching the 4 seasonal korean dramas, Autumn in My Heart, Winter Sonata, Summer Scent and Spring Waltz.

Nothing particularly interesting about this drama, it is basically Winter Sonata and Autumn in My Heart combo. The first 2 episodes were shot in Austria (beautiful scenery). Will update my review soon.spring1.jpgspring2.jpg

Korean Dramas Marathon

I have been on korean dramas marathon these few days. Finally finished watching Friends 2002 staring Won Bin and Kyoko Fukada and Heaven's Tree staring Lee Wan and Park Shin Hye.

Friends 2002 is a mini series with only 4 episodes. Won Bin definitely looks good but Kyoko Fukada is somewhat chubby (but still cute though). Storywise is okay, simple and nice ending. Recommended if you have 4 hours to spare during weekend :)

Well, Heaven's Tree is a sequel to Stairways to Heaven. Both the main casts are the supporting child characters from Stairways to Heaven. Frankly speaking, the main casts are not as stunning as other korean dramas. The main actress is too young, she is only 16 this year. The main actor is Kim Tae Hee's biological brother. Storyline almost the same as Stairways to Heaven, and one cast died eventually (typical korean dramas). However, the OST is good.

Snow in May!

It snowed last night! Can you believe it, snow in summer :P . I still remembered when I told one of my professors in NUS that I decided to go to UW Madison two years ago. He paused and winked, " Are you SURE you want to go to Madison? It is COLD". I admit that I was extremely worried when I first arrived at Madison. Having spent almost 1/4 century near the equator, I wasn't sure if I will survive the harsh climate, but here I am writing my blog in Madison (I survived two winters!). Should I thank the global warming for the mild winter these days?

By the way, the bus 80 I took broke down half way through my way back to my apartment just now :( , haizzz  .

A day of sigh and relief…

Exam ended, classes ended, but no holiday for me yet….For once, I won't complain here in my own blog :)

Had korean cuisine for dinner for both today and yesterday (at two different restaurants).

bibimbap.jpgnakjibokum_image_final.jpg

This is what I ate. The first one is called bimbimbap, served of some hot rock with a sunny side up egg, mixed vegetables and beef. (Analogous to the cantonese style "ngar pou fan", but obviously a healthier version). Today, we had some soup + chicken bokum + spicy squid bokum. Sumptuous dinners!

Met the fellow year ones at Brown Shelter for BBQ as well….what a fruitful day!!

Three more and I will be done. It is really ironical that my life as a graduate student is way, far far busier than as an undergraduate. Check the link below, pretty cute!
